  FAQ

Why does soy wax make a superior candle?

Why isn't the whole of the candle burning?

This usually isn't a problem you'll find with our candles, but the cause of this is the use of a wick which is too small for the jar. Another common reason is that the wick may move closer to one side as the wax cools and hardens. If your candles is creating an uneven burn, simply adjust the wick to the centre of the jar or to the side that needs more heat.

What is "Tunnelling"?

Tunnelling is when the candle burns straight down the middle and leaves wax around the edges. Tunnelling can be caused by incorrect wick size or too many short burns. It is recommended to burn your candle for at least a couple of hours at a time, to give it time to melt to the edge.

Why can't I smell the fragrance in my candle?

This can be caused by the room being too large for your candle (Office buildings, high ceilings, open spaces, drafts etc). Sometimes simply leaving the room and coming back in can make all the difference. We recommend using our Soy Melts in burners for larger spaces.

Why is my candles "Frosting"?

Frosting is the term used to describe the white coating that appears on your soy candle. It is a perfectly natural effect of using soy wax. It is the natural wax re crystallising and trying to return to it's natural state. Most soy waxes frost. This is a sign that you are using 100% natural soy wax. Some soy waxes have additives to stop this frosting, however we use a 100% natural product, so you can expect frosting fro time to time. It will not affect the quality of your candle in any way.

Help! I've spilled my wax!

The good news is that soy wax is water soluble! Soak as much of the spilled wax as you can, then soak the area with warm, soapy water. If you get wax on your clothes, pop them in the washing machine.
